A little look at our floor-to-ceiling Semi-Custom Built-In Closet and how we built it.

When we first moved into our house, we didn’t have any cabinets or shelving, except in our kitchen.
We placed a folding table in our laundry room, pantry, and closet to temporarily hold our things.
Once the holiday season was over, we got to work on all three spaces.
Well, mainly Roger, because I was in the last month or so of my pregnancy and could only do so much.
Roger almost finished the closet, but our baby girl decided to come early, so we took a short break from projects to spend some time together as a family, aka we all had an equal share in the newborn trenches together!
But in March, we finally finished our closet!

The first thing Roger did is build a base for the storage system to sit on to help raise it up and help it be more custom.
Once the storage system arrived, we followed the directions that came with them to assemble them on the platform.
We also drilled holes into the drawers so that we could add handles to them.
When we were designing our closet, Roger asked me what I was hoping it would look like.
What I really hoped for was that the cabinets would go all the way to the ceiling.
Once the storage system was installed, Roger started working on creating additional shelving and crown molding above the storage areas so that it would go all the way up to the ceiling.
He had almost finished the crown and base trim when baby Sabrina decided to surprise us with her early arrival.
After taking a break from home projects for a couple of weeks to spend more time together as a family, we got back to work in late february.
He finished the molding, and I caulked, painted, and decorated the space.
