For a while now I have been wanting to create more savory fall appetizers and side dishes that would be perfect for a vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner.

The only (tiny) problem was that I couldn’t decide if I wanted to create a sweet potato recipe or butternut squash recipe.

So I decided to do both!

A few weeks ago I created these Whipped Goat Cheese Butternut Squash Steaks and today I am sharing this Pear & Whipped Goat Cheese Sweet Potato Rounds recipe.

And now I have two new vegetarian Thanksgiving recipes that you can choose from for your next holiday gathering.

Or if you will be gathering with a bunch of friends and family this year you could even make both!

Which works great for those who may prefer butternut squash over sweet potato or sweet potato over butternut squash.

Creating both will be a tasty win for everyone!

These Pear & Whipped Goat Cheese Sweet Potato Rounds are topped with slices of pear, whipped goat cheese, walnuts, dried cranberries, fresh thyme, and a drizzle of honey.

And while both recipes include whipped goat cheese, I wanted all of the other toppings and flavors to be completely different.

So even if you were to serve both dishes at your next holiday party your taste buds would be able to enjoy completely different fall flavors.

But I know not everyone is a fan of goat cheese, which is totally fine!

You could also serve these dishes with whipped feta or spreadable cream cheese.

If you plan to serve these at a Friendsgiving or Thanksgiving party you could serve them as a build it yourself appetizer or side dish.

You could have a finished example displayed next to all of the toppings and then let your guests choose which creamy cheese they want to use on their Pear & Whipped Goat Cheese Sweet Potato Rounds or their Butternut Squash Steaks.

Not only would that be a flavor win for your guests, but it would also mean less work for you.

And that is totally a win in my book!

And if you do decide to try both recipes this season, I would love to hear which one is your favorite because I honestly can’t decide!
