Homemade simple syrup is so incredibly simple to create!

This means you can easily create specialty flavors for your drinks and desserts at home whenever you want!

I originally created this Homemade Cinnamon Simple Syrup for this Hot Caramel Apple Spice recipe and had planned to include it in that recipe.

But then at the last second, I decided that it deserved its own recipe post!

Because this Homemade Cinnamon Simple Syrup is the perfect addition to your fall hot chocolate, apple cider, or hot caramel apple spice drink!

So whether you want to add this sweet cinnamon syrup to a hot drink recipe or even a cold drink recipe, you’ll have the pleasure of knowing exactly what’s in your homemade simple syrup.

And since it’s just 4 ingredients and takes only about 10 minutes to make, you’ll be able to easily make this recipe as often as you like to add to all of your favorite drinks this season!

You could even double the recipe, pour it in a labeled jar, and set it out at a fall gathering or Christmas party for your friends and family to enjoy too!

This Homemade Cinnamon Simple Syrup is the perfect addition to your fall hot chocolate, apple cider, or hot caramel apple spice drink!

Ingredients

Scale

Cinnamon Syrup

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Brown Sugar, dark or light
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1 & 1/2 Teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. First, whisk the 1 cup water, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon in a medium saucepan over high heat.
  2. Continue to whisk the mixture until the brown sugar has dissolved and it comes to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to whisk at a simmer for 5-7 more minutes.
  4. Once the syrup has begun to thicken, remove it from the heat, whisk in 1 & 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and set it to the side to cool.
  5. Pour the cinnamon simple syrup into a glass simple syrup jar and let cool.
  6. Once cool seal the jar and keep refrigerated for up to a month.
