Good morning!

It’s the first Monday of December & I am filled with holiday cheer! We spent the weekend in a cabin up in the mountains with Roger’s family & I feel so refreshed & ready for a new week.

Although the weather has been a little warmer than anticipated, that hasn’t stopped me from drinking hot chocolate, decorating with garland, & wrapping presents with homemade wrapping paper!

And I’ve been officially told by Roger that I can not open or shake anything that comes in the mail between now & the end of the year.

The temptation is real folks.

There is a semi-long rectangular shaped present under our tree right now & I can’t for the life of me figure out what it is… And the box it arrived in says fragile, so I know I shouldn’t shake it while Roger isn’t in the room, but boy is it tough to resist!

And while I love the mystery inside of a gift, what I love even more is creating & sharing presents! There is so much joy to be had when someone opens something you carefully created & chose just for them.

So whether you are tight on budget or purposefully decided to create a homespun gift exchange this year, this tutorial for Sharpie cork trivets will be fun for the giver to create & receiver to open!

I started with a quick trip to Target (well as quick as any trip can be to this red & white wonderland!) where I picked up this Sharpie Permanent Markers Limited Edition Gift Pack (39 ct.) in the office supply section. Well, to be honest, I picked up one for myself & one as a gift since these items make great gifts for kids, tweens, & adults! And it will go perfectly with the Sharpie cork trivets.

I also grabbed a Prismacolor Colored Pencils Gift Pack (22 pc.) because their colored pencils are the best! I bought some last year too & they are my absolute favorite to use when coloring!

I knew I wanted to create cork trivets, but I also know my art skills are lacking so I picked up a few stencils to use on the cork trivets & brown packing paper.

As you can see, I couldn’t decide what Sharpie colors I wanted to decorate my cork trivets with because there is such a wide variety of colors available in each gift set! I did, however, narrow the stencils down to this reindeer one.

Eventually, I decided to stick with navy, red, & silver for the cork trivets. I also chose the silver, gold, & bronze to decorate the brown packing paper. And for the gift tag, I used the silver Sharpie.

What I love most about giving the cork trivets & Sharpie Permanent Markers Limited Edition Gift Pack as a gift together is that the receiver can then create their own design on the back of each trivet. They could use the reindeer side that you decorated in the winter & then design some flowers or a sunshine on the opposite side & use the trivets all spring & summer long!

Materials:

Cork Trivets

Sharpie Permanent Markers Limited Edition Gift Pack X2 (one to keep & one to use)

Stencil (optional)

Brown Packing Paper

Ribbon

First, lay your stencil on the cork trivet & use the sharpie to outline the stencil. Next, color in the outline design with your Sharpie color of choice.

Repeat design on all of the cork trivets. Wrap & tie a bow with ribbon.

To create reindeer wrapping paper, first cut a size of brown packing paper to fit the size of the gift.

Next, use a reindeer stencil & a variety of colored Sharpies to create the outlines of reindeer on the paper.

And don’t forget to create a cute gift tag with your Sharpie & a scrap of brown packing paper!

And on the backside of the gift tag, you can leave a little note that the gift receiver can put their own personal touches on their new Sharpie cork trivets. They can draw/decorate the back side of the cork trivets or add more color & design to the side that you decorated.
