A simple Space Themed Nursery with a dark blue wall, outer space printables, grey glider, white crib, and grey dresser topped with a baby changing basket.

Roger and I went through so many nursery theme ideas before finally deciding on a space-themed nursery.
We liked the idea of a neutral classic Winnie the Pooh theme and then for a long while we were considering a beach theme.
But after spending the day at the Kennedy Space Museum in Florida on Mother’s Day it was pretty clear that Roger hoped for a space theme for Baby Roger.
No matter what theme we went with for our son’s first room, it was going to be very different from the whites and pinks that I typically decorate with around our home.
So why not go with the extra challenge of trying to create a semi-minimalist outer space nursery!?
Plus, we both have a deep love for Star Trek!
The first step was deciding on a color scheme.
So we headed to the store to pick out an accent wall color.
And while I know accent walls are on their way out in the world of trends, I knew we wanted a pretty dark color for his room.
Rather than have a very dark nursery, we opted to paint just one wall in Moon Shade by Valspar.
I had planned to paint an IKEA dresser in the same color, but despite my best efforts, I was never able to get my hands on one (they were always out of stock!).
After countless hours of searching for one in our color scheme at a good price, we finally decided upon this beautiful grey dresser.
Decor Details:
Swivel Glider with Ottoman (also available here, here, and here – mine is Grey Linen, but it is available in 5 colors) | White Lumbar PIllow | Solar System Print | Poster Frame (ours is 18×24) | Uncut White Matboard | Set of 2 Blackout Curtains (20 colors & 10 sizes – ours are in Stone) | Curtain Rod | Convertable Crib | Fitted Crib Sheets | Grey Throw Blanket | Grey Area Rug (ours is 7’10” x 10′) | Tripod Floor Lamp | Diaper Pail | 6 Drawer Double Dresser (4 colors) | Large Round Mirror | Changing Table Basket | Echo Dot | Large Grey Willow Basket | White Throw Blanket | Grey Throw Blanket | Glow in the Dark Stars | Ceiling Fan | Space Growth Chart | Reach for the Stars Print | Star Trek Print | Wood Frames with Mat (ours are 11×14) | Small Grey Willow Basket | Moon Accent Lamp
Since we are on the subject of researching, I can’t even begin to count how many hours I spent looking for just the right swivel glider with ottoman for Baby Roger’s nursery.
But in the end, it was all worth it!
We both love it so much we already spend time enjoying it even though baby Roger isn’t here yet!
Sometimes I even go up there to work!
But my second favorite aspect of his new room is all of the little decor details.
I made the Bible quote above his crib (free printable below) and together we (well mostly Roger) created the frames around them. (PS everything is very securely hung – we took extra precautions!)
He also made the little wood Star Trek emblem on the dresser.
We had a hard time narrowing down the other wall art, there are so many cute options on Etsy!
But after months of having a bunch in my cart, we finally decided on the 3 that are hanging on either side of the windows.
And now that his nursery is complete all we have left is to wait and pray for his safe arrival!
