And while it may look like dessert, I won’t tell if you decide to make and eat it for breakfast.

Christmas is a special time of year. Why not make it extra special with this super-easy treat for brunch?

And don’t worry, all the extra pieces were baked up and enjoyed, because when it comes to Nutella and puff pastry, it doesn’t matter how it looks because it tastes so good!

And while I used a strawberry fruit spread inside this Fruit Spread Nutella Puff Pastry Christmas Tree, you can use any flavor of jam, jelly, preserve, or fruit spread that you like best!

Instructions

  1. First, preheat your oven to 400° F.
  2. Then, on a lightly floured surface, lay out one sheet of puff pastry and gently roll it out. Repeat on the second sheet of puff pastry.
  3. Place one sheet of puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and spread a thin layer of Nutella on top.*1
  4. Next, spread a layer of Welch’s Natural Strawberry Fruit Spread on top of the Nutella.
  5. Then lay the second sheet of puff pastry on top.
  6. Using a sharp knife, cut out the shape of the Christmas tree (don’t forget the tree trunk!) and cookie cutters to cut out extra shapes with the excess puff pastry.
  7. Then cut out the branches on the Christmas tree and gently twist them.
  8. Beat one egg and use a pastry brush to brush the egg wash over the Christmas tree and Christmas shapes.
  9. Bake the puff pastry for ~15 minutes or until golden.
  10. Let cool slightly and sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
  11. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. I found that warming up the Nutella in the microwave to thin it out before spreading it on the puff pastry helps it spread easier.
