This Puff Pastry Banana Split is filled with Nutella and raspberries, wrapped in puff pastry, and topped with powdered sugar, dark chocolate drizzle, ice cream, and heart strawberries. Perfect for Valentine’s Day or a Galentine’s party!

I’ve loved every puff pastry dessert I’ve tried, but this Puff Pastry Banana Split might just be my new favorite!

I’m not sure I can ever go back to regular banana splits now that I’ve had this flaky puff pastry version filled with warm chocolate hazelnut spread and fresh raspberries.

I topped them with powdered sugar, chocolate drizzle, ice cream, and strawberries. YUM!!

And to make it extra special for Valentine’s Day or a Galentine’s party I cut the strawberries into heart shapes.

But you can top yours however you like best like with whipped cream, nuts, chocolate chips, cherries (we couldn’t find fresh cherries), or any of your other favorite banana split toppings.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. First, preheat your oven according to the puff pastry packaging instructions (ours said 400 degrees Fahrenheit) and line 1 large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Use a pizza cutter to cut both puff pastry sheets into long strips about 1-2 inches wide. I cut each sheet into 6 strips, so I had 12 strips total. This gave me 3 strips of puff pastry for each banana.
  3. Peel the bananas and use 1/4 teaspoon or a small melon baller to scoop out the center of each banana.
  4. Drizzle Nutella into the center of each banana and place raspberries on top of the Nutella (I placed 5 raspberries into each banana). *(1)
  5. Carefully wrap each banana with the strips of puff pastry so that they are completely covered.
  6. Beat one egg, and use a pastry brush to brush the egg wash on all of the puff pastry-wrapped bananas.
  7. Bake the puff pastry bananas according to the puff pastry baking instructions  (at 400 degrees Fahrenheit I recommend between 15-20 minutes until very golden to ensure it’s fully baked inside).
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  9. Then place the puff pastry bananas on a plate, sprinkle with powdered sugar, drizzle with dark chocolate, and top with ice cream and strawberries.
  10. Enjoy!

Notes

  1. The amount of Nutella will vary based on how big your bananas are and how much banana you scoop out of the center. It can also help to warm up the Nutella a bit to help pipe it into the bananas more easily.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
