So this is one of those recipes that is so easy, I’m not even sure if it can be called a recipe… But I drink it so much, even more than tea, that I thought maybe you may enjoy it too!

Not only do I love it, but Roger even started drinking it at the end of last year too!

Whenever I start to feel a little run down I either go for peppermint tea or more often, this warm lemon honey water.

I’ve been drinking it for years! I use to measure the honey & lemon, but after awhile you get tired of measure sticky honey & just start dumping it into the hot water!

But don’t worry, you can find the actual recipe below!

Now I’m not even going to pretend that I know all of the health benefits or make any claims that you will heal your sore throat with lemon honey water.

I will, however, share that drinking lemon honey water makes my throat feel better whenever I have a sore throat.

One of my friend’s mother often tells her she needs a lemon a day to stay healthy. And while the more common saying is, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away,” I’ve also seen it rephrased as “a lemon a day keeps the doctor away.”

Again! I’m not making any factual claims here.

Simply sharing what I’ve learned through experience.

Because the only thing I know for sure about lemons is that I love them!

If you love lemons too, or simply want to give your throat a little bit of relief while sipping on something more flavorful than water, you are going to love this warm honey-lemon water!

And since my husband is a dentist, I feel like it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t add that you may want to brush your teeth after consuming this drink.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Lemon *(1-2)
  • 1 Heaping Teaspoon Honey *(3)
  • 1 Cup Boiling Water

Instructions

  1. Squeeze 1/2 lemon & 1 heaping teaspoon of honey into a cup of boiling water.
  2. Stir, let cool slightly, & drink while warm. *(4)

Notes

  • *1. I should note that no two lemons are the same. Some are bigger, smaller, sweeter, or sourer. So you may (or may not) need to tweak your drink each time depending on the lemon & your personal taste.
  • *2. Also, while I enjoy 1/2 lemon per cup, my husband only likes 1/4 lemon. You may want to start off slow with 1/4 lemon & work your way up to 1/2 lemon.
  • *3. While I prefer & recommend local honey (especially if you have seasonal allergies) you can use whatever honey you have on hand.
  • *4. The warmer/hotter it is the better it will feel on your throat, but if it’s too hot it will burn you, so just use common sense.
