House Building Time Capsule and Month 4 House Build Update

Sharing is caring!

Creating a House Building Time Capsule along with a little month 4 house build update.

I’m a bit behind in sharing our month 4 house-building update, but I’m excited to share this mini House Building Time Capsule with you all!

I used our little mini printer to print off some photos from this year and placed them in a small glass jar along with a little note.

While we plan on this being our forever home on this earth, you never know what will happen in the future.

So I thought it would be fun to leave a little surprise in our kitchen for any potential future homeowners.

I debated which room to put it in, but finally decided on the kitchen because I figured that’s a space that people often renovate after buying a home.

This is our second Easter Egg that we’ve left on/in our new house and I hope to add two more before we finish building.

And speaking of finishing up, we are about halfway done!

In June a lot happened with the construction of our new house.

In early June the plumbing crew roughed in the whole house plumbing system.

Also, the HVAC crew put in the venting system for the A/C system as well as the air handles in the crawl space and attic and also running gas lines for the fireplaces, water heater, and propane cooktop.

After the plumbing and HVAC rough-in was done, the electrical rough-in was completed.

The electrical rough-in took about 2.5 weeks and the inspection took a while as well so our timeline for getting the house done was set back a bit.

Also in mid/late June, the exterior brick was delivered and the mason crew started putting up the whole exterior in brick!

The brickwork for the exterior is a huge project and one of the largest costs for our whole house, so this step will last well into July and possibly might even go into August.

A few other minor things happened in June as well, including some small extra stuff from the framers which was missed the first time, and we also pre-ordered our kitchen cabinets and appliances since there was a great sale for the week leading up to the 4th of July.

On the schedule for July will be framing inspections, as well as plumbing and HVAC rough-in inspections, doing insulation, and starting drywall hopefully.

We will be looking to order our interior doors in July, as well as looking at garage door options.

We are still aiming for a late fall move-in date, but things are starting to run long, so we will see.
