This DIY New Year’s Eve Time Capsule is a fun new family tradition you can enjoy each year on the last day of the year.

New Year’s Eve is such a wonderful time to think back over the year.
I love remembering my favorite memories with my family, looking over pictures of how much our son has grown, thanking God for our blessings and the lessons we learned, and dreaming about the year to come.
So I thought it would be fun to create a New Year’s Eve Time Capsule that we could add to every year.
This year I added a few pictures from the year, along with one of our Christmas family photos, a bag of “treasures” my son found on one of our last walks on our property before we sold our house, and a letter to our future selves sharing a little bit about our year in 2023.
My plan is to pull it out each New Year’s Eve, look over the special items that were kept safe from previous years, and add a few new things along with a new letter.
And in the years to come I might have our son (and any future children) help me embellish the box a little bit more each year too.

Materials (click item to shop):
Stain (similar) or Paint
Objects &/or a Letter
Instructions:
1. First, stain or paint your wood box following the directions on the label.
2. Once the stain or paint is dry, cut out the letter stickers and arrange them on the box so you can play with the arrangement until you find a placement you like.
3. Then remove each letter sticker from the backing and stick it on the box.
4. Add your favorite memory objects from the year and/or a letter sharing your favorite memories, lessons, and experiences from the year.
5. Close up the box and save it to open and add more items to next New Year’s Eve.
