Last year we had the opportunity to go swimming with Manta Rays in Hawaii at night.

Of course, we jumped on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to swim with beautiful manta rays!

I had heard they have wingspans of around 10-12 feet.

But seeing them up close at that size was amazing!

I was in awe of these beautiful creatures as they gracefully swam around us enjoying a late-night snack (we didn’t touch them).

We were on vacation with Roger’s family and it was so fun to share this experience with our nieces and nephews too!

The boat ride out with the tour company (this is the one we used) was a lot of fun, had a trampoline net, and included some good refreshments (my favorite was the hot chocolate on the way back!)

I was 3 months pregnant at the time and a bit nervous about how cold the water would be, but it ended up not being bad, especially with the gear they provided.

Once we arrived at the location, we swam out with pool noodles (we then used the pool noodles to hold up our legs as we floated while holding onto their raft with our hands – ps I’m not sure what the technical term is for the floatation we all held onto).

We then had the best view of these majestic manta rays as they swam below us and around us enjoy a late-night meal of plankton.

I couldn’t believe how close they swam to us and how many we saw!

They were gorgeous!

If you have the opportunity to swim with manta rays, I highly recommend the experience!
