I have been looking forward to our trip to Key West & our stay at the Southernmost Beach Resort for months now.
Roger grew up vacationing in the Florida Keys & ever since I joined the family I have traveled to the Keys more times than I can count.
But I had only been to Key West twice for two different day trips, once with my family & once with Roger’s family, both over 8 years ago.
So suffice to say, I was super excited to be getting back there for a long weekend stay.
As I was doing research on things to do, food to try, & places to stay in Key West, I kept going back to the Southernmost Beach Resort website.
Their whole resort looked absolutely gorgeous & I loved watching the live webcams that they have set up throughout their property.
Who doesn’t love watching a live view of the ocean?
We arrived at the Southernmost Beach Resort Friday morning & while check-in isn’t until later in the day they offered to keep our bags & give us resort key cards so that we could explore the island & enjoy their amenities at our leisure (which they also offered on Sunday since our flight didn’t leave until the evening).
Friday was spent sightseeing & then afterward relaxing by the pool with a virgin mango strawberry daiquiri.
We spent all of Saturday relaxing & enjoying the paradise of the resort.
And on Sunday we biked around Key West in the morning & relaxed by the pool with a virgin berry mojito before leaving for the airport that evening.
To give you a little taste of what we enjoyed I thought I would share with you 10 reasons you’ll love the Southernmost Beach Resort & why it is a piece of paradise in Key West.

1. The Property
The Southernmost Beach Resort has a surprisingly large property stretched out over two blocks of Key West, one of which that is right on the beach.
There are beautiful (picture perfect) palm trees everywhere & a variety of benches, chairs, loungers, & hammocks for you to relax in all over their property.
We loved swinging in the hammocks with the cool breeze while watching the birds fly overhead.
The whole resort is a beautiful piece of paradise perfect for exploring, relaxing, & photographing beautiful pictures of the landscape & your family.
2. The Beautiful Accommodations
There are so many accommodation options to choose from at the Southernmost Beach Resort.
Their main accommodations include the deluxe, superior, & oceanfront rooms, but they also have options for you to stay in the historic La Mer House & Dewey House.
We enjoyed what they call a partial ocean view room (as it’s on the first floor), but let me tell you, I totally would have thought it was an ocean view because the view was absolutely gorgeous!
3. The Gorgeous View
Speaking of gorgeous views, there are so many varying vantage points from which you can take in the beautiful turquoise water.
Whether you are enjoying brunch at the Southernmost Beach Cafe (which is literally on the beachfront), relaxing by the pool, or playing in the sand, you will never get tired of soaking in the sunshine & pretty blue sky.
4. The Hotel Staff
The staff at the Southernmost Beach Resort were so accommodating!
As I mentioned above, we arrived hours before check in on Friday & our flight home wasn’t until hours after checkout, but they kindly offered to keep our bags both times so that we could continue to enjoy our Key West adventure.
On Sunday while we were out exploring Key West, I saw some people lugging their luggage all over the place, even leaving them in different restaurants while they explored the island.
Being able to relax & know our luggage was safe & sound at the Southernmost Beach Resort was such a huge relief & I was & am incredibly grateful for their hospitality.
5. The Sparkling Pools
There are three pools that you can choose from for a day of relaxing in the sun. Not only do they have a pool that faces the ocean, but they also have an adult’s only pool.
We visited all three during our stay & each has different perks to satisfy the needs of their guests.
My favorite was the one that was the one closest to our room, right next to the beach. As you can see from the picture above, it was an absolutely beautiful pool to relax in during the morning & evening.
6. The Beach
I’m always excited when resorts include complimentary beach chairs & umbrellas at the beach during your stay!
I love the beach, but I burn easily, so being able to enjoy the sand while having a way to escape the sun is always a big win in my book!
7. The Pier
But if you prefer to get your tan on, the Southernmost Beach Resort has a private tanning pier that stretches out into the beautiful blue Atlantic Ocean.
There are lounge beach chairs & umbrellas so you could spend all day relaxing on the pier while enjoying the gentle cooling breeze.
This tanning pier was a unique feature that I’ve not seen anywhere else & it was a fun place to relax in the afternoons after a dip in the pool.
I should also note that it was a little windy during our stay so the water looked to be more stirred up than usual.
8. The Relaxing Atmosphere
As you can see from the photos there are a lot of opportunities for relaxing at the Southernmost Beach Resort.
From the moment you arrive, you are given ample opportunities to relax.
From seating around the property to a cool & comfortable room to being able to leave your luggage safely with them, you’ll be able to fully relax & enjoy your Key West adventure by staying at the Southernmost Beach Resort
9. Fun Onsite Activities
No matter what your definition of fun is, the Southernmost Beach Resort has so many available activities you are bound to have a good time.
From a fitness center to beach volleyball, to cornhole. There is a spa where you can get massages, facials, manicures, & pedicures.
You can rent bicycles from them, set up watersport activities with the concierge, & a variety of other activities depending on your preferences & the day of the week.
10. Great Location
Roger commented on several occasions how much he liked the location, within Key West, of the Southernmost Beach Resort.
While walking distance from everything, & just across the street from one of the Duval-Loop free bus pickup/dropoff spots, the location of the Southernmost Beach Resort is a little quieter than the rest of Key West which is so nice for relaxing after a day or night of adventure.
Plus, you are also close to “key” tourist attractions like the Southernmost Point of the Continental US.
