Discipline
“Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.” – Proverbs 12:1 ESV
Being disciplined is difficult.
There are so many distractions in life, from social media to clothing, to family, to work.
Some of these are great in their own time, but in the wrong context, they can be huge time killers.
If you always hung out with your family & never worked how would you provide for your family? Or, if you always worked when would you spend time with the family you work so hard for?
Finding balance & having self-discipline is tough.
I have found this to be especially true when working from home. And more often than I wish to admit I find myself chastising myself for stupid time wasters.
Reproofing myself feels so silly, but I don’t want to be stupid. So I do it anyways.
And one of these days I pray I will wake up & find that I am fully disciplined.
But this isn’t a fairytale & I’m not a Stepford wife.
The only way to become disciplined is with intense self-training, accountability, prayer, & by remembering that all that our Father is always watching.
He is watching in order to carry us when we can’t walk, dry our tears, guide us to safety, protect us from the world (& ourselves), while teaching us to be disciplined hard workers who shine His love through all of their thoughts & actions.
I pray that through my daily devotions & relationship with Christ I will become more disciplined in my daily life & thereby grow in true knowledge.
