How cute are these dessert Strawberry Chocolate Turkeys?

I’ve been seeing them for years and I finally decided to make some for our family.

We are vegetarians, so I’ve never tasted a real turkey, but I do love chocolate-dipped strawberries, so this was a major win for my chocolate-loving tastebuds.

Plus they are so fun to make and eat!

And since they are so small, you can still have apple pie, pumpkin pie, or my favorite Streusel Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars!

Instructions

  1. First, wash the strawberries, gently pat them dry, and then remove the tops.
  2. Next, melt the dark chocolate according to the packaging instructions, set to the side.
  3. Break off the tip of two pretzel sticks.*(1)
  4. Stick the broken ends of both pretzel sticks into two mini marshmallows.
  5. Dip the side of each mini marshmallow into the melted chocolate and then firmly press one onto each side of a strawberry (on the top/side slightly towards the front) until the chocolate has hardened.*(2)
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 to create as many dessert turkeys as you’d like.
  7. Stick a fork in the top of a strawberry, and use a spoon to pour the melted dark chocolate over the strawberry (you may need to add more chocolate or remelt the chocolate if you are making a lot).*(3)
  8. Gently shake off any extra melted chocolate and then use a second fork to carefully slide the Strawberry Chocolate Turkey off of the first fork.
  9. Repeat steps 7-8 on all of your strawberries.
  10. Once the dark chocolate has hardened, melt some white chocolate according to the packaging instructions.
  11. Then dip the tips of the pretzels of each Strawberry Chocolate Turkey into the white chocolate.
  12. Let the white chocolate harden and enjoy!

Notes

  1. You will want to make the length of the pretzel sticks different for the different sizes of strawberries. Ex. smaller strawberries will need shorter pretzel sticks and bigger strawberries will need longer pretzel sticks.
  2. The melting chocolate linked above hardens pretty quickly so you will probably only need to hold it against the strawberry for 10-20 seconds.
  3. Make sure the chocolate isn’t too hot when you pour it over the strawberries as it can melt the marshmallow and/or cause the marshmallow to become detached from the strawberry.
