This DIY Mermaid Seashell Compact is the most fun beach craft that you can enjoy using all summer long for years to come.

As I was making this seashell pocket mirror, I decided to make a whole array of beach and shell items for my baby girl to play with when she is older.

I plan to make a shell box and put all my homemade seashell treasures in it, and then gift it to her in a few years.

So far, I have this mermaid makeup mirror and some handmade seashell hairpins.

I think my next project will be a hairbrush to go with her growing collection of seashell accessories!

Will you be making a DIY Mermaid Seashell Compact this summer?

ps. This would make such a fun project for a craft night or on a rainy beach day!

These viral DIY Seashell Trinket Dishes have become one of my all-time favorite summer beach crafts!

I’ve created three different shell craft tutorials (and I’ll be sharing a new one next week!), each perfect for a rainy afternoon or when you need a break from the sun.

You can customize these with any napkin and make them a special souvenir from your beach vacation.

No beach trip on the horizon? No problem! You can still make these at home.

I found these shells online and have used them for two different crafts.

Be sure to check out my blog for the other two shell crafts and follow along to see my newest shell craft this week!

Back in 2015, I posted a recipe for homemade Chocolate Chip Cookie Sprinkles that has become a follower favorite.

While I still love creating homemade recipes, life looks very different now than it did a decade ago.

I still love baking cookies with and for my family, but with two little ones keeping me busy, time is more precious than ever.

That’s why I’ve recreated my Chocolate Chip Cookie Sprinkles recipe, but this time using store-bought cookies to save time without sacrificing fun.

Of course, if you’re craving the homemade version, the original recipe is still available on my blog.

Whether you go homemade or take the shortcut with this viral tutorial, these Chocolate Chip Cookie Sprinkles are perfect for topping ice cream, stirring into hot chocolate, eating like cereal, or sneaking by the handful as a late-night treat.

So would you eat this for breakfast, dessert, or both?

This DIY Fresh Flower Candle was so fun to make and lasted way longer than I expected!

I used fresh flowers and greenery, and the roses were still pink 5 days later.

I started taking short video clips each day, but then I missed a couple of days and gave up.

If you try this, I recommend enjoying it for 3-5 days before cleaning it up and refreshing it with new water and flowers.

Here are a few quick tips to help you when making your own DIY Fresh Flower Candle.

1. Be sure to use fresh flowers and stems, not ones that have been sitting around for a while.

2. Remove outer petals from the roses that are bruised or wrinkled so the best petals are visible, and they will last longer.

3. Enjoy for 3-5 days before cleaning it up.

4. When it’s time to clean up, scoop out the remaining pearl wax and let it dry on a clean paper towel. Once dry, you can crumble it and reuse it for a new candle.

5. And most importantly, be sure to always supervise your candle and never leave it unattended.

I hope you enjoy your fresh flower candle!

For years, I’ve been gifting store-bought flowers wrapped in tissue paper.

They look so much prettier than the standard plastic sleeves from the grocery store and feel a little more special.

The only downside is that tissue paper can be fragile, so I’d often wrap the flowers in the car just before gifting, worried the paper might rip in transit.

Then I saw @andeelightful’s version wrapped in paper, and it looked gorgeous!

Inspired, I decided to combine the two wrapping styles into one.

While I still had plenty of tissue paper, I was running low on craft paper.

Unfortunately, the dollar store where I usually bought it was completely out of stock.

I scoured the internet and read countless reviews searching for the perfect brown paper.

So many of the options online were thick and heavy-duty.

While those qualities are great for other projects, I needed something thin and easy to work with for these bouquets.

After lots of searching, I finally found the right one!

Now I have everything I need to make bouquets for Easter, Mother’s Day, birthdays, parties, hostess gifts, or just for fun!

What’s your favorite grocery store to get flowers from?

This viral Watermelon Cake is one of my favorite summer fruit DIYs.

With over 120 million views and 2.6 million likes, I’m guessing it’s one of your favorites too!

It’s made entirely of fruit and finished with extra fruit and fresh mint leaves.

I secured the watermelon layers with long wooden skewers and attached the hanging fruit using wooden toothpicks.

We took it to a large family gathering that night with Roger’s family, for 30+ people to enjoy.

And serving was as easy as slicing and enjoying.

Don’t worry! We weren’t responsible for dessert!

This was just a fun alternative to a fruit platter (and I brought a traditional dessert, too).

Here are some answers to a few recurring questions I’ve received:

Serving:
Cutting and serving is simple, just like with a regular cake.
When it was time to eat, I immediately cut into the watermelon cake so no one hesitated to be the first.
You can remove the toothpicks from the fruit before serving or leave them in for easy finger food.

When to Make:
I made this Watermelon Cake in the late morning/early afternoon and served it in the evening. More details about refrigeration and transportation are on my blog.

Are you planning to make a Watermelon Cake this summer?

P.S. My (then) 2-year-old son and 92-year-old grandmother both loved snacking on the extra watermelon while I made this summer cake.

Our front porch was in major need of a makeover. We’ve had this Christmas mat on our front porch since we moved in November 2024.

So we partnered with @schlagelocks to help us make our entryway both welcoming and safe. This isn’t our first time using Schlage. We installed a Schlage keyless entry in our first home back in 2016 and loved it! I’m eager to add more of their products to our home, as they are America’s Most Trusted Lock, and their products are made with quality materials.

Door hardware is an important part of our home, and upgrading is worth the investment as Schlage makes durable, high-quality products. We chose the Schlage Custom 3/4 Trim Single Cylinder Handleset and Whitney Lever with Camelot Trim in aged bronze, and it was so easy to install! So I was able to get our porch entryway refreshed quickly for the warm spring and summer months ahead.

And thanks to Schlage, we are now one step closer to having the front porch of my dreams. Next up, an outdoor sofa and bed swing!

Making this DIY Potted Flowers Candle Holder was such a fun spring project, and it turned out more beautifully than I had hoped!

For anyone concerned about the mess, I’m very thorough about cleaning up, and my husband helped too. We both made sure the counters were thoroughly cleaned multiple times after completing this project.

Since this is an outdoor centerpiece, you could use a citronella candle in the center.

I made sure there was a good distance between the plants and the candle, but you can always opt for a flameless candle instead.

What beautiful flowers will you use in your flower candle holder?

Last week, I shared how we accidentally let our front landscaping go to weeds and how this spring, we are working hard to refresh this space, with the help of our sweet little boy.

I’ve been battling the weeds for weeks and have tried a variety of non-toxic methods, including fire, hand pulling, the grampa weeder, and a baking soda method.

But there are still so many of them!

So if you have any non-toxic weeding methods or product recommendations for a crazy-overgrown pebble path, I am all ears!

But we decided to go ahead and start defining our path and front garden beds with stone pavers.

Little Roger always wants to help, and this was the perfect project for him to help us with.

While I was helping Roger with something on the other side of the path, Ro got to work laying the stone pavers, and we couldn’t believe how fast and well he did it in just a matter of minutes!

This little guy is constantly surprising us in the best of ways!

We also laid down landscaping fabric around the 6 plants we planted a couple of years ago (before we moved into our house) and dug holes for more plants we picked out at the Barn Nursery, which will be delivered later this week.

Be sure to follow along to see the transformation of our front porch and yard!
